After doing some Spring cleaning around my room, I thought I should share how I display and organize my shoes. I have quite the collection of shoes that has grown over the years. Now that the weather is getting warmer, I reorganized my shoe stand....out with the boots and in with the sandals and heels. Personally Spring and Summer shoes and outfits are my favorite so I am so excited when that season finally rolls around. Or maybe its just the Island Girl inside of me that is still used to 70+ weather all year round. In this post I'll go over my organization tips, my staple spring shoes, and some of my favorites. Shoe Stands: Target When I first moved into my room, I kept my shoes in the pull out drawers under my bed. But as my collection of clothes grew and my collection of shoes grew, this was no longer the best option for me. I wanted to have my shoes on display, which would make selecting a pair to wear much easier. With the help of my awesome grandma, we made this stand under the windows in my room. We got 5 shoe stands from Target (one of my favorite stores) and stacked them to fit and display all my shoes. Before this area was bare, and once I had this stand up it really completed my room. If you don't have as much space as I did, it could still be cute to have 2 or 3 stands to show off your most fashionable shoes. I love this display because it is practical and decorative. On the top shelve, I display my favorite heels. I usually wear heals for special occasions only, but I hope to have my collection of heels grow in the future. Displayed above are some of my favorites. To the very right is a pair from my 16th birthday, they are from T's Closet (my aunt's boutique found in Philipsburg, St. Maarten). They are so gorgeous and colorful, they are perfect to add as an accent to an outfit. These shoes could go with an all denim outfit, all black outfit, or can compliment a colorful outfit. Next is my pair of Olive heels which we were a great find from Target, I love the tassel that is in the back of these heels. Next are my black heels, I have a leather open toe, a sparkly high heel, my prom shoes with gorgeous detailing, and then my Nine West black pumps. Every girl needs a classic black pump in her collection right?! Next are my BCBG wedges which are perfect for dressing up an outfit while still being comfortable. Finally I have my nude heels, one being a glossy finish and the other is sparkly and more formal. On the next shelve below I have my flats. I love flats, they are my go-to for everyday wear. On the left, I keep my open toe flats and one the right I keep my closed toe flats. I have camouflage, pink, sparkly, red, nude, maroon, gold, and so on. They can compliment all my outfits from a jean and t-shirt to a pencil skirt and cute top. I keep my sandals on the shelve below. On the left I put my black, white, and nude sandals. And on the right I put my other sandals that make more of a statement. Some of my favorites include my snake-skin pair with gold detailing to the very right, and my colorful beaded pair next to it. Flats and Sandals are definitely a go to for me in the spring and summer, I love organizing them like this so I can see all my options when putting an outfit together. On the sides of my shelves, I have my knee high boots and rain boots (not pictured above). I love my knee high boots even when the weather is warmer because I can pair them with dresses, skirts, and shorts for a cute look. On the other side, I have my brown booties and my gladiator sandals which are super cute when paired with flow dresses and shorts. I also have a shelve for wedges, and on the very bottom I keep some sneakers that I don't wear often and heels that I didn't display on the top shelve.
I hope that you found something helpful or just enjoyed looking at shoes like I do! I really love my display of my shoe collection and I hope you did too and learned a tip or two on how to organize your own collection. Thanks for reading, xoxo Kye

Top- BCBG | Jeans - H&M | Purse- Micheal Kors I love the spring time because the sun is out, the weather is great, and I can go out and enjoy the sights surrounding me. It was my mom's birthday and we decided to go to the Peabody Library and American Visionary Arts Museum in Baltimore and it was really amazing. I loved seeing the old historic books in the library and the art in the museum was really intriguing. For lunch we stopped by a corner restaurant that had some of the best pizza I've had since moving here. Baltimore is truly charm city, there is so much to discover and so much to see. Since I was spending the day walking around the city, I decided to wear this comfortable outfit. This simple white shirt had the cutest little details on the shoulder, I paired it with my jeggings and brown sandals. I hope I can go down to Baltimore again soon to see what else the city has to offer. The George Peabody Library is one of the most beautiful libraries in the United States. It is apart of John Hopkins University and has over 300,000 books. If you find yourself in Baltimore you should definitely visit. Next came the Visionary Art Museum which opened in 1995. The art was so interesting and to be honest sometimes I didn't understand it. But I think it was a refreshing to see things that were different and to try to get into the minds of the artist, to try to understand their life, viewpoint, and story through their art. I definitely recommend it. Until next time,
xoxo Kye Dress- La Femme from Claire's Fashion Boutique | Jewelry- Francesca's | Shoes- BCBG Generation from DSW | Clutch - DSW | Makeup- ULTA My senior prom was a night that I was looking forward to this whole year. I am so thankful for my family for helping me put this look together. I was also so excited and honored to be on Prom Court with my wonderful date. I had an amazing time! Now to show how I got ready for this big day... I was so excited the night before that I could hardly sleep. Once it was morning, I went to my nail appointment. I decided to do French tips to compliment my classy and elegant look. Once I got back home I did a honey mask to get my face prepared for my makeup appointment. I was so excited! Next came my makeup appointment! I went to ULTA and my makeup artist was so nice. I wanted flawless skin, a smokey eye, and red lips. I loved how the look turned out and it matched my dress and overall vision. Once I got home I just had to make finishing touches and do my hair. My aunt gave me perfect loose curls that lasted all night! Finally it was time to put on my dress. When I tried this dress on in the boutique I immediately fell in love. The dress was perfect for me because it was classy, mermaid, and had a wow factor. The details were amazing and the nude of the dressed matched my skin tone. For jewelry I bought simple and elegant earring that added some bling to my outfit. My shoes had a similar design to my dress and were comfortable to stay in all night. Together it all looked amazing and I loved it so much! Lucky for me I had the best date to go with. He matched my fly with a fitted black and white tux and he looked amazing. We complimented each other and together we had an amazing night. My senior prom was a night to remember. I wish I could go back and relive it because it truly was one of the best nights.
xoxo Kye 17. Senior Year. Getting ready for what the world has to offer me and what I have to offer the world.
Life is all about growth, and in order to appreciate where I am now I have to analyze my past and the steps it took from me to get from where I was to where I am now. My highschool career is quickly coming to an end and somedays that seems so crazy to me. How did 4 years go by so fast? My life changed in so many ways during those short 4 years, but looking back I now see how those changes affected me and made me the person that I am now. Starting my freshman year after leaving St. Maarten was so difficult, being in a new school, town, and country was intimidating. I was quiet and shy, I didn't feel like I could fit in...how could I? There was no one else from my island and no one who knew me. I am proud of myself for getting through that time without losing myself as a person and for staying focused on my schoolwork(which has really paid off and I will explain later). And I am so grateful for my family and my friends who were always there to support me. I've learned so much about myself and have changed in positive ways as I grew up and learned from my mistakes. Now, I am confident in who I am. For those out there who feel like they don't know themselves yet, here is my advice: 1. Give yourself time to grow and learn 2. Focus on yourself, not what others are doing or saying 3. Have a positive role model in your life, there are so many people out in the world doing amazing things and we can always learn from them 4. Figure out what makes you happy and do whatever it is. I know that there is still so much for me to learn, so many more hardships for me to experience, and I will change in different ways....but I know it will only make me a better person. 2017 has been a memorable year for me, there are so many amazing things happening and I feel so blessed it is almost overwhelming. I've been accepted into almost all the colleges I applied to, have been excelling in all my classes, was in the Students of the Year Campaign, and recently was awarded a Full-Tuition Scholarship to my dream school. Like I said, its so amazing that its overwhelming!!! My achievements are a reflection of the hard work I've done, my support system, and aspirations. I am beyond happy that I have made my family so incredibly proud of me. I am also very thankful and grateful for all the opportunities that I have had. Like I said before, all the hard work has paid off. Those difficult days were truly worth it. I didn't think that things like this couldn't happen to me, that there was always someone smarter and more qualified. Now I know that the sky is truly the limit, don't doubt yourself! I am just a girl from a small island but this is only the start for me, I know that there is so much more that I want to achieve in life. There would be no growth and no achievements without a great attitude and positivity. In high school it seems like everyday you are surrounded with the exact opposite. The gossiping, the rumors, the people who don't like you, and so many people who would rather see you fail than see you be happy and succeeding. It is so easy to get caught up in the things that aren't important. How popular you are. How many followers you have. What people think of you. Trust me, I've gotten caught up before. I know that I am focused on the wrong things when I am unhappy. When this happens I try to refocus myself and stay positive. Spreading kindness, helping others, and just being nice is so much more rewarding. As I look forward to college, I am excited for the growth I will experience, for the things that I will achieve, and I hope to stay positive and humble through it all. I hope that maybe someone reading this will find this helpful and relatable. I share my accomplishments and my experiences, not for the personal praise, but in order to inspire others. There are so many people in my life who have inspired me and I hope to be that person for others. xoxo Kye |
